The Beatles Project
Metal Art by m.e. franco of metals brew
It's been a while since my last post but I have been very busy on finishing Paul McCartney. I am now in the painting process as you can see. I've spent several hours cleaning all of the metal with thinner to clean any dirt and rust before I apply any paint. Note: If you look at the last picture you will notice how the frame is above the ground with a cast shadow below it. I thought it would be very interesting to designed a frame that will visually float away from the wall when mounted. Whats even neater about this frame is that any light source that hits it will form a cast shadow against the wall and make it even more appealing to the viewers eye.
The photo in the middle is me applying some paint on the frame. I am applying several coats of gloss black. It takes a number of days to allow the paint to dry and re-coat to achieve a nice glossy appearance. The photo above shows both Paul and the frame painted in black. The black is painted on the backside of Paul. The front will be painted white and I will post more photos when I get him started. I hope you will check back soon for updates on my Beatles metal art project.
Thanks,
m.e. franco

The Beatles Project
Here is the image mounted on a metal backing. The metal backing is hand cut and brackets are welded on the back for wall mounting. The face will float off the backing about four inches (notice the shadow behind the face). The backing will also float off the wall at about one inch.

The Godfather
The Beatles Project (Paul, work in progress)
You are looking at the face of Paul. I cut this out from a piece of sheet metal shown below. Cutting the face out by hand is very tedious and there is not much room for error. Each cut has to be very precise or the face will not look like the person. Paul's face in this photo still needs much work to be done and it is still in a very abstract form. The size of the face is about 3 feet high by about 2 feet wide. Please check back soon as I will be posting more pictures of the Beatles project.
The Beatles Project.
Okay so this is the starting stage of the creation of a Beatle Face. You are looking at a large sheet of metal that will hopefully transform into a face of Paul. This part will take some time and no mistakes can be made during the cutting process or I will have to scrap the whole piece.
